Scientific Day on Solid Waste Management

 

IUG Faculty of Civil Engineering has held a scientific day to shed lights on the cutting edge-techniques of solid waste management this day at Al-Quds Building.

Prof. Wisam Ashour, Vice-Dean of Engineering Faculty, said that this day aims to minimize the gap between the theoretical and practical side of civil engineering.

The scientific day targets students, researchers, engineers and the personnel working in the privet sectors with a view to partake the experiences of the privet companies in solid waste management field.

Director of Solid Waste Management project from Eng. Nour Eddine Madhoun confirmed that one of the project’s outputs is to celebrate the construct of Al-Fokhari landfill, in participation with several local and international institutions.

The day has been set off to include two scientific sessions:   

First session

Aknann has filled the gap between the industrial and academic system. Dr. Mohammed Abu Henba presented the experience of Aknan company in the waste management field. He said they are working on producing renewable energy and waste recycling, confirming that the company has made use of waste to reproduce Vital Gas, organic fertilizers, feeding liquid for plants and soil.  They, also, have made three experiments resulted in producing a computing typical unit for launching vital gas. More importantly, the company is carrying out projects for producing energy from sea waves.  

Municipal Development and Lending Fund participation comes to clarify the steps of constructing 235-Dunums A-Fhokhari landfill, which had been carried out through building a Landfill cell, infrastructure, special streets, construction of a waste dumping plant to collecting waste and then relaying it.

In the Second Session, E. Inas Qandeel from Joint Services Council has shown the experience of the council in managing the solid waste from communicative perspective. On the other hand, Dr. Abdel Mgeed Nassar handled E-waste in the Gaza Strip. The participation of Japan International Cooperation Agency was about – JICA experience in Solid waste treatment in the Gaza Strip.
