Health Sciences To Launch World Antibiotic Awareness Week

 

Prof. Abdelraouf Elmanama asserts that Antimicrobial resistance is a global health threat to resistant microorganisms, and reaching alarming levels all over the world; it is considered by the world health organization the third most health challenge of the 21st century.

World Antibiotic Awareness Week, will be held by Health Sciences Faculty, aims to increase the awareness about antibiotic resistance and promote the proper use of antibiotics across all sectors to avoid further emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance.

The stockholders through the campaign is calling on individuals, governments, agriculture & professionals to take action to address this urgent problem.

The week is supposed to take place in 18-24, Nov. 2019 and will include a range of activities, events and lectures for participating universities, lectures at hospitals and health centers, as well as a campaign through social media pages, launching an Android awareness app, short videos, posters, publications, and radio and television interviews about Antibiotics.

The week’s activities are held in partnership with: Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, National Economy, and with the support of the World Health Organization, the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, the American Microbiological Society and the EMicrobial Project team.
