Inauguration of Energy-Efficient Building Lab

Inauguration of Energy-Efficient Building Lab

Architectural Engineering Department has inaugurated the first energy-efficient building lab, this morning, at IUG the Basement Administrative building.

Prof. Muhaisen asserted that this lab is greatly critical for many reasons: it pushes students towards drawing a practical map when thinking about designing an energy-efficient building rather than just memorizing the information, it also gives a wide space for teachers to adopt the practical side in the teaching process much more than the theoretical one.

The lab contains different models that explain the mechanism of energy-efficient buildings’ designs. It, in addition, includes a full solar-cells device that guarantees training students on identifying the different factors of electricity production.

Other models, as prof. Muhaisen said, explain the ways of isolating voices in buildings; and there are different models show how to make sunshine breaking for having good results at these new buildings.

Students are the most benefiters from this lab since it allows them to practice the knowledge practically and professionally. One of the Engineering students said that the lab shapes a good transformation in studying and teaching, mentioning that it’s going to facilitate the process at all.

It’s worth to mention that this lab is a good promotion for the culture of energy efficient building in Gaza, and it falls under the activities of CBEEB Project, a joint academic program with the University of Vienna.
