Iwan Center Inaugurates Training Program

 

IUG Iwan Center has launched a training programme on “Digital Documentation Skills for Endangered Archaeological Pottery” with a view to raise the awareness among people about in-danger-archaeological pottery.

The representative of the Ministry of Tourism Ms. Al-Bitar stated that this program draws on training people in how to identify artifacts, its shapes, colors and its types. She added, this will include identifying the areas of these artifacts as well as the mechanisms of documentation, measurement of pieces and their sizes and the artistic description of the inscriptions and decorations on them.

Head of Iwan Center Prof. Ahmad Al-Astal said that the cultural heritage is part of any nation’s civilization heritage, and that preserving it is considered a preservation of the historical roots. He, additionally, emphasized that that Iwan Center is one of the most important centers that care for cultural heritage and held a number of previous sessions that are based on raising awareness about the importance of heritage.

Eng. Mahmoud Al-Balawi, manager of Iwan projects, pointed out that the training program came within the framework of the center’s strategy to preserve the archaeological sites and the cultural heritage. This programme is a kind of cooperation between Iwan Center and Kanaan project which deals with digital documentation for cultural heritage.

It’s worth mentioning that this training programme has been funded by Kaplan international Fund for supporting in-danger cultural heritage in conflict areas.
