A number of women with disability have gotten new online jobs after six-months training on designing programs at Irada Center.
The Director of Irada Center for rehabilitation of disabled people at Islamic University reported that the center has offered a work-online programme for women that’s entitled, “Gaza Women and youth employmen”, funded by Swiss Agency for cooperation and development Supervised by UNDP/ PAP.
The first stage of the project provided students with six- months training on designing programs such as Photoshop, illustrator and In Design; during the training along, the trainees were taught the skills of using these programs on freelancing platforms and the techniques of designing several materials such as logos, advertisements, business cards and drawing characters in addition to different projects that mimic the reality.
The trainer of the second stage, the employment period, clarified that the trainers strongly needed this stage to know how to deal and contact with clients. Ms. Donia said that at the beginning of this stage, trainees were had no profiles and her mission was to teach them how to complete personal information and propose themselves to different jobs as well as how to grab the clients’ interest.
One of the trainees added that she and her colleagues got the most expected benefit from these techniques and they actually used them in dealing with several clients around the Arab World. The trainer added that she felt the trainees needed a course in English language which can teach them the concepts and the language of freelancing platforms so that they can deal with more broader clients, and Irada Center responded positively to this request as she pleasantly confirmed.
The 28-year lady Eman Al-Khour assured that the project has really changed her personal life, she has started to be much more social than before; and on the vocational level, she got a job with a client from the Saudi Arabia. She added, ” the client rated me 5 after I done the job, and he hoped to work with me once again”.
The 27- year lady Naifa Hasanein declared her pride and happiness when she was asked about her journey in this project at Irada. First, ” I liked the cooperative spirit of the trainer, trainees and persons in charge of the project at Irada, they helped me get through the freelancing work and succeed; I really feel a vividly tangible development in my skills and in my life”, she said.
Because of this training, Naifa has got two projects through Mustaqel platform despite the fact that her profile has been completed within only one month. About the future, soon she will be working on a small project that can be implemented by using her skills from the programme, as she aspired.
