IUG Wins Project for Building Capacities in CSA and Wastewater Treatment

 

This project leads to Sustainable Development through the enhancement of institutions and individuals’ skills and knowledge.  

The Islamic University-Gaza- has won a new project entitled, ” Building Capacities in Palestinian Universities in the field of Wastewater Treatment and Climate Smart Agriculture”, which is funded by (Nuffic) through Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP). The Programme has been launched in the Middle of 2017 to be continued five years ahead.

The three- year project, which will be implemented through the Engineering Faculty, aims at reinforcing the teaching process and scientific research in the field of water management of climate smart agriculture. In addition, the project encourages the improvement of water and sanitation’s access (WASH) through good governance and good technical management.

There are four interrelated dimensions that the project is mainly relied on: a) fostering teaching, training and applied research to address the needs of the water and sanitation market (WASH), b) activating the role of joint applied research in Climate Smart Agriculture in order to evoke researchers work with their Dutch counterparts by funding joint research projects. In addition, the output of the project will promote networking and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders who taking into account the social diversity and inclusiveness of partner universities in all components of the project.

Five Dutch Universities will lead the stern of the project: The University of Tifinti, Delft University of Technology, The University of Wagengen, the Free University of Amsterdam, and the Delft Institute of Water Education. The Dutch partners will expose their experiences in curriculum and research development with a particular concern on establishing an internship model beside the entrepreneurship projects that benefit female students towards a successful work.

The Palestinian project coalition consists of nine Palestinian universities from the West Bank and Gaza Strip: An-Najah University, The Islamic University, Al Quds University, Birzeit University, Hebron University, Al-Azhar University, The Arab American University, Palestine Technical University-Khudouri and Palestine Polytechnic University.
