AQAC Accredits Master Degree in Critical Care Nursing at Islamic University
Master Degree in Critical Care Nursing has been recently accredited by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC) at the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education as to be open soon in 2019-2020 academic semester.
In an interview, the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Prof. Yousef ALjeesh declared that “this programme is the first in Palestine and the third in the Arab World”.
Prof. Aljeesh asserted that this program is designed to prepare nurses to meet contemporary challenges in the specialist field of critical care nursing and to progressively build upon knowledge and skills required to comprehensively care for critically ill patients with an ultimate goal of improving the quality of health care provided to Palestinian patients.
Objectives
As the Dean added: this MA programme will Provide an educational framework that will encourage students to develop their analytical skills and critical awareness in order to stimulate inquiring and creative approach to both the theory and practice of critical care nursing. Moreover, promote and facilitate optimal comfort and well-being in a highly technological environment that is often unfamiliar to patients and families. Plus, participate in safety initiatives and adhere to best practices when providing care in a high-risk environment. The course responds to the demands of the Palestinian Health Care system where there is a need for trained nurses with sophisticated specialty skills and knowledge.
Candidates
Each candidate should have a completion of BS nursing from a recognized university with minimum average good. The candidate needs to have two recommendation letters from the institution.
Graduates work places
Graduates could be able work in variety of settings, in acute work setting such as: Intensive Care Units (medical, surgical, and neurological units), Coronary Care Units, Emergency Department, Burn units, Neonatal intensive care units.
