Japanese Ambassador Supports Youths In Gaza During Visit to Islamic University

It was a gorgeous moment: Mr. Takeshi OKUBO, Japanese Ambassador, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Nasser Farahat, the president of Islamic University, at VIP room in Islamic University, shouting messages of support to thousands of youths in Gaza.

“Japan is truly committed to supporting Youths in Gaza,” Japanese Ambassador stated in his speech to trainees of the Work Online Project. “There is common features between Gazans and Japanese that we have no kind of natural resources; however, both of us have human resources,” he added.

Prof. Nassr Eddin Mzainy, Head of Board of Trustees, gratefully said: We would like to thank the government of Japan, ITC and our friends in JICA for their continuing support to the Palestinian community.

“We always seek to invest in humans, and we stand by your side for building an independent country,” Mr. OKUBO commented.

During meeting with the visiting delegation, the director of BTI Eng. Basel Qandeel explained about the nature of IUG BTI work. He said that the BTI Works within three programs: first established in 2006 to aid entrepreneurial ideas and help people translate them into action on the ground; the second established in 2015 to accelerate the existing start-ups in the business market. The last set off in 2018 with generous fund from the Japanese Government and JICA, funded by the ITC, to build freelancers’ capacities and create online jobs as well as grant them soft skills for networking with local and global clients so that build a world of business by their own.

The results of the project were utterly tremendous as “The trainees had succeeded, during three months, to gain more than 43 thousand $ from the training phase of Work Online Project, some of them built long-term contracts with big companies in the field of digital marketing, designing and programming,” asserted the Project Manager Eng. Hazem Abu Habib.

The trainees’ feedback showed a full satisfaction. One of trainees-after praising the delegation’s support- has presented her experience in gaining jobs with her team. Misa Al Fayumi-Social Media Manager- said that she learnt a lot of technical skills on the hands of expertise during the training phase which aided her to create an agency combined of different specialties with her distinguished team. “We have managed to develop long-term contracts with Saudi Arabia companies, USA, and other countries,” she explained. Another experience delivered by Muna showed that the team have got the first job after three weeks; and after five-months training, they gained 50 jobs and the income was between 5-7 thousand dollars.  

“I’m so impressed by your passion and your enthusiasm which seek for better future. This is such a great project we support in Gaza “this was the Ambassador comment on the trainees’ feedback and the outcomes of the project.

The representative of JICA office in Palestine Mr. expressed his appreciation over the projects’ outcomes and he was most impressed by the active role of girls here in Gaza. He confirmed that JICA to continue support the project many years ahead till the economic in Gaza sees lights.
