Information Workshop On IUG Research Store

IUG Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies teamed up with ROMOR group organized an information workshop on the university’s research store. The workshop was held in the presence of IUG President Prof. Nasser Farahat, IUG Council members and ROMOR team in addition to those who were interested.

 Prof. Farahat mentioned the most important achievements that were reached to start this research store which includes the scientific researches of all IUG stuff. He also noted how important for the university to take serious steps towards carrying out this store as the basis for academic and research institutions.

 Prof. Hatem Al-Aaydi, the Deputy Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, spoke about the importance of digital stores and the challenges they encounter, pointing out the experiences of many local, Arabic and international universities. He said that it’s essential to provide the necessary needs for making such store in IUG.

 Prof. Bilal Abu Ras, the IUG coordinator of scientific research projects, gave a brief presentation about the indicators of the international publication of IUG researchers and the development of the research over the past years. Additionally, he gave analysis for the IUG international publication, and he suggested many ideas to increase the chance of IUG in the international category.

Dr. Samir Afifi, a member of the ROMOR project team, spoke about the importance of the research store within the vision of the team. He stressed that investing such a store is considered an investment in the university future. He mentioned a number of achievements that include: identifying needs, making survey studies, starting administrative and technical training, and preparing educational materials to suit the local needs.

Dr. Afifi expressed the importance of overcoming the obstacles at the institutional level to enhance the store’s benefits and the need for integrated work between university’s units and faculties.

PRof. Rawya Awadallah, the leader of ROMOR team, presented a draft contained the store’s policies that were developed to manage the research store. She explained that the proposed policies were developed after reviewing a set of policies in a number of Arabic and international universities and that they were discussed during the project team visit to Europe in June to get benefit from the European experiences.

 Prof. Awadallah said that this draft set a wide range of work systems, including the administrative, institutional and legal ones, taking into consideration the preservation of property rights.

Dr. Iyad Al-Agha, a member of ROMOR project team, reviewed the initial version of the research storage, its main features compared to other stores, in addition to its contents which varied between academic research, IUG journals research, and scientific letters.

Dr. Al-Agha revealed the internal divisions of the research store, mentioning the potential uses for the research store by different IUG units. He also talked about the possibility of making reports, statistics and other features that are easy to obtain and trust.
