Workshop To Evaluate ROMOR Project

After a year passed form Romor project, IUG holds a workshop to evaluate the outputs of the project, entitled”Research Output Management through Open Access Institutional Repositories in Palestinian Higher Education”. The project is funded by Erasmus+ program, in partnership with Birzeit University, Palestine Technical University, Alquds Open University Vienna University of Tech, University of PARMA, University of Brighton, and the University Of Glasgow.

The Dean of Higher Studies Faculty Prof. Talal Shahwan from Birzeit University, the hosting university, has opened the workshop via video conference technique. He praised the project important role in enhancing and building researchers’ capacities, promoting cooperation with local and international institutions and universities in the field of Research Output Management.

On behalf of IUG, prof. Samir Afifi talked about the nature of the scientific research dissemination through UNESCO reports, and statistics following to global repositories for publishing such as Scoops. Prof. Afifi saw that Romor would achieve breakthroughs in the coming years. Through institutional repositories freely available, the project will build technical and humanitarian capacities required for managing, archiving and disseminating the outputs of the research.  Therefore, the numbers of visual scientific research will increase at the national, regional and international levels.

Prof. Rawia Awadallah, the project manager, presented different activities took place during the first year and discussed considerations of implementing the projects.

 At the end of the workshop, Prof. Nidal Al-Geosi, representative of the Palestinian-European Cooperation Office in Higher Education, praised IUG role in managing the project professionally during the last year. He also appreciated the results achieved in collaboration with project partners; Prof. Geosi thanked all partners for their joint efforts in following up the project activities.
