The English Department has recently worked for a cooperative meeting with the Nationale Teachers’ Union, Britain. The meeting entitled “Here There &EVERYWHERE: GAZA-LONDON” Planned for exchanging information while understanding the reality of education in Gaza schools. In addition, it explored the prospects of cooperation between the Union and teachers. The meeting was held in the presence of the meeting’s coordinator Prof. Nazmi El Masri from English Department, and Mr. Jonathan Chadwick, Mrs. Philippa from London, alongside a host of members from the faculty staff, alumni and entrepreneurs in the education sectors.
As English department is a home of development, Mr. Jonathan Chadwick praised the Department role in filling the gap between teachers in Gaza& London; he thanked the department on the good preparation, coordination, and cooperation for the meeting. The meeting enclosed success stories, statistics, and studies given by students.
The student, Ra’at Abu Dyer, presented some psychological and social consequences of the siege and war on teachers; meanwhile, spotting lights on studies and statistics of international institutions that put teachers’ suffering under the microscope.
Mona Al-Najar with Asmaa Dirawi highlighted some inspiring stories succeeded in overcoming the burdens of siege and war; most importantly, realized new breakthroughs in all areas of education resulted in benefiting the community. Both students attributed the great success to the projects that connected Gaza with the globe and opened minds to culture mobility.
Finally, the student Dalia Shamalakh listed some ways of cooperation and association with several educational and academic systems around the world. These systems increased, in a way or another, the opportunities of offering scientific and thoughtful mobility.
Live stories have attracted teachers in London, for it focused on the creative aspects of students that employ modern strategies in the teaching process: Drama, Songs, educational games, the effective harnessing of technology. Most importantly, using inclusive education based on equality, non-violence, attention to persons with special needs, and respect human rights.
