Prof. Adnan Hindi, Dean of Health Sciences Faculty& professor of Medical Parasitology at Medical Laboratory Sciences Department has received a Fellowship Certificate in Responsible Conduct of Research from University of California, USA, & Jordan University of Science and Technology.
The program aimed to publicize the scientific research ethics, strengthen the scientific research environment and build regional capacities for public health research and high-quality clinical trials determined by the highest standards of research integrity.
More than 27 academics have participated in the program, but Prof. Hindi was selected to join a training program within the fellowship certificate he received. The program consists of 16 units over a full year, supervised by the University of California & Jordan University of Science and Technology, and funded by the US. National Institute of Health.
The program covered several topics: Ethics’ history in scientific research, ethics in Epidemiology & public health, and the responsibility of conducting the scientific research. Besides, a detailed explanation of Medical Genetics ethics, Clinical Trials, Gene Therapy, drug use, Animal studies ethics, and Biotechnology ethics. Not only that, but it discussed the ethics committees role and duties, Informed consent, conflict of interests and ethical challenges in scientific publication.
