Eng. Majd Almashharawi, entrepreneur at Mobaderoon3, won Emirates Energy Award 2017 on her Project GreenCake, under a category of Research & Development. Eng. Almashharawi was able to produce a new Green Building Block consisting of coal ash as a cement substitute. According to tests, Almashharawi Block has been approved as Green for many reasons: lightweight, cheap, and good insulator for sound & heat. Moreover, gravel and sand, by using this kind of blocks, can be dispensed and replaced with ash caused by coal burning in order to generate electricity.
UAE organizes Emirates Energy Award every two years to encourage better use of energy sources. The award aims to highlight best practices and pioneering work in the field of energy efficiency, alternative energy, sustainability and environmental protection.
