Dr. Yosuf Al- Jaish, Dean of IUG Faculty of Nursing, was hosted by University of Oregon to participate in a Seminar entitled, ” Ten- Year Siege and Decades of Illegal Occupation Negative Effects on Palestinians Health.” The seminar was joined by Dr. Yaser Abu Jame’, Director of Gaza Community for Mental Health Program, and attended by a group of M.A and P.H.D students from University of Oregon in addition to a number of academics anf Senior officials.
This seminar talked about the reality of health in Palestine in time of Israeli occupation and its effect on providing health services for the Palestinians in Gaza Strip in addition to the challenges facing the providers and the means used to face these challenges.
During the seminar, Dr. Al- Jaish showed the foundations of many heath studies related to health services provided in Gaza Strip, chronic diseases, mental diseases and how they are affected by the siege and electricity crisis. He also pointed out that health services providers are divided into governmental, private sector and NGOs, and that the foundations of these studies say that the main reason of all health problems in Gaza Strip is siege, crosses closure, and lack of medicines.
