IUG Arabic Center for Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language Holds Meeting to discuss program progress

IUG Arabic Center for Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language held a meeting on Jan. 04, 2017 in Continuing Education building to discuss success of the promotional campaign, which had been announced on Dec 17, 2016 and to put an outline to start it.

All the center’s teachers attended the meeting, which was headed by Dr.Nazmi Al-Masri – Vice President for External Affairs –.

It is worth noting that the aim of this free campaign is to teach Arabic for non-native speakers from the whole world. The center has opened its doors for registration in this campaign since Dec 17, 2016 and will continue until Jan. 06, 2017. Study will commence on Jan. 09, 2017 to Mar. 09, 2017.

Since the campaign began, the enrolled number reached more than twenty people from different countries as the following: United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Philippines, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bangladesh and America.

During the meeting, it was agreed on several points related to the campaign and future prospects of the center as following:

·         Distribute the enrolled students between teachers.

·         Put a schedule of the proposed dates for the course sessions.

·        Develop the curriculum’s programme, training material and technological aids that will be used in the                     educational process during the course.

·         Divide the enrolled students into two groups in terms of teaching method. A group will be taught by direct             education (face to face) and the other by distance education (online). Each group has been distributed on               four teachers to ensure the best use and achievement of the desired objectives.

Teachers have shown great commitment and effective presence; they enriched the meeting in their effective suggestions and recommendations. Dr. Nazmi has expressed great pleasure for this enthusiasm and activity from the teachers of the center.

The center includes a number of qualified teachers specialised in Arabic or English majors who have been rehabilitated and trained by experts from University of Glasgow and Arabic for All Foundation from Saudi Arabia, which are interested in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.
