IUG Faculty of Engineering, Architecture Department accompanied with Vienna Technical University opened a training program about energy-efficient buildings. The program was finance by Appear Project. It was also opened within the project of promoting Energy Efficient Buildings for developing a sustainable Constructional environment in Gaza Strip.
The Opening was held in a workshop hall in IUG Deanship of Continuing Education. It was also attended by Prof. Ahmed Mohaisen, IUG Vice President for External Relations in addition to a number of specialists and interested people in Engineering in Gaza Strip.
For his part, Prof. Mohaisen mentioned the goals of promoting for Energy Efficient Buildings, that include, developing a sustainable environment in Palestine and forming a staff for exchanging ideas and information in the field of energy efficient buildings.Prof. Mohaisen also mentioned the project activities such as, holding an international conference specializing in energy efficient buildings, organizing a training program for local institutions employees, and developing a training course for IUG Architecture Department.Prof.
Mohaisen also talked about the course goals including, increasing awareness of the importance of energy efficient buildings, and decreasing energy crisis in Gaza Strip. He also pointed out that Gaza strip has been suffering energy crisis and severe decrease of energy required in Gaza Strip.
Mohaisen pointed out that the training program consists of 9 meetings distributed over 27 hours. 6 of the meeting will be theoretical (overview about energy efficient buildings, sustainable urban planning, thermal insulation, and renewable energy applications), while two will be practical (designing solar cells and computer applications), and the last will include a visit for Friendship Turkish Palestinian Hospital .
