In a seminar held by Midwifery Department at IUG, the participants emphasized the importance of the scientific research, and called for using it as part of work life since it is a complement to the modern health systems. They also called for formulating professional practice that is suitable for all changes that may occur in the environment.

NORWAC, a Norwegian Aid Committee represented by Ms. Synne Hollan, was one of the participants in the seminar, which took place in Tayba building at IUG. The seminar consisted of 3 sessions. The first was the opening , in which IUG president welcomed the attendants and emphasized the importance of birth care as it is basic for healthy children and mothers.

The participants also discussed the Palestinian health system. In this session, the speaker talked about the role of midwife in taking care of the newborn babies and their mothers. Dr. Yousef A l-Jaish, The Dean of the faculty of Nursing also emphasized the role of IUG Faculty of Nursing in the development of health sector in Palestine. The second session discussed the pregnancy period, while the third was about midwifery around the world and safe birth.
