Faculty of Health Sciences, at IUG, Opens an Exhibition

Have you ever imagined the number of bacteria that you hold on your mobile  phone wherever you go even to your bed?

Eslam Aqel , a student of medical laboratory sciences, tried to make it closer to reality by showing the visitors  different bacterial colonies that were grown from mobile phone imprints.

” We hold our mobile phones wherever we go, these devices can contaminate our hands and we might not be aware of that, so germs stuck on them can pass to our food and cause an even worse complications” she added.

The opening of the exhibition that lasted for two days, was held with the attendance of  Prof. Dr. Abdelraouf Elmanama- Vice president for Research and Graduate Affair, Prof. Dr. Adnan Al-Hindi- Dean of The Faculty of Health Sciences and Dr. Mohammed Al-Tarshawi.

The exhibition included many sections such as: the”Microbiology” section where visitors enjoyed exploring the world of bacteria, the “Videos” section where many  scientific videos were translated into simplified Arabic and had been played for visitors, the ” live Experiments” section where few experiments were performed live. The ” Online Competitions” section, the “worksheets” section and the  ” World Beneath The Microscope” section where visitors observed different bacterial morphologies under the microscopes.
