IUG Celebrates the Graduation of Arabic Teachers for Non-Native Speakers

Community Service & Continuing Education Deanship (CSCED), at IUG, celebrated the end of “Arabic Online Teacher Training Course” (60 hours) with the University of Glasgow, UK. This is a pioneer training course in Gaza Strip aimed to qualify participant teachers  with the needed skills to teach Arabic online for non-native speakers around the world.

This course was based on  a three-year project, “Researching Multilingually at the Borders of Language, the Body, Law and the State”  in which Dr. Nazmi Al-Masri participates  in  partnership with seven British, American and European academic institutions This course was given by Dr. Mariam Attiah from Durham University and three educators from the University of Glasgow : Dr. Giovanna Fassetta, Dr. Katja Frimberger, and  Ms Maria Grazia Imperiale.

The idea of training Arabic teachers  started  in 2013 where  IUG, in cooperation with “Arabic for All” institution, Saudi Arabia, delivered a one week intensive teacher training course in Arish, Egypt. Due to closure of Gaza borders, the same training course was also  but online for different participants in 2015 . Eight teachers participated in this internet based training course delivered by four experts from the UK..The trainee teachers were equipped with different professional skills to enable them to teach Arabic using internet and recent technologies . 

The course covered six key components: :
Context, Pedagogy,
Language,
Technology, and
Creative Arts.
