Head of International Committee of the Red Cross’ sub-delegation in Gaza Mr. Mamadou Sow stated that ICRC works mainly to protect of the provisions of International Humanitarian Law in various places around the world.
Mr. Sow’s speech came during a public lecture he delivered to university students during which he talked about his experience in working for ICRC in different countries and regions worldwide. Sow emphasized that civilians must be spared the horrors of conflicts and that all warring parties must abide by the rulings of International Humanitarian Law and other international covenants.
Civilians must not be a target of armed party and that ICRC maintains a neutral position in times of war and conflict, Sow added.
Sow assures that ICRC works hard to protect civilians in times of crisis and documents human rights violations.
