A Workshop on the PGC & QR Priorities Scholarships

Research and Graduate Affairs held an introductory workshop in cooperation with the Faculty of Science at the Islamic University of Gaza. The workshop introduced the audience to the Palestinian-German Cooperation Scholarship and Qatar’s Research Priorities scholarship which is sponsored by Qatar National Research Fund. The figures who attended the workshop included Dr. Nezam M. Al-Ashgar, Faculty of Science Dean, Dr. Wisam Ashour, Research and Graduate Affairs Deputy Assistant, Mr. Bilal Abu Rass, Coordinator of Scientific Research Projects at IUG, and a number of interested researchers and academics from the Faculty of Science.

The Islamic University is known for its distinction in the field of Research conducting; the university had already received the funding for a lot of research projects such as the university’s winning of around 50% of the projects funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and Qatar Charity (QC).

Furthermore, IUG always does its best to offer any facilitating services to its researchers so as to overcome any obstacles they face while participating in the research projects.

Such scholarships, clarified Mr. Abu Rass, are important in reinforcing the university’s role and its distinction on the local and regional levels. The Palestinian-German scholarship covers different fields such as Nanotechnology, Agricultural Science, Materials Science, and Renewable Energy.

As for Qatar’s Research Priorities Scholarship, IUG had already participated in this program in association with some partners from Qatar, Britain and Finland. It is worth mentioning that this program is considered to be the biggest funding program supported by Qatar National Research Fund.
