A Delegation from the International Labour Organization and UN Humanitarian Affairs visited the Islamic University of Gaza to celebrate the success of signing an agreement between the IUG and ILO.
The delegation included: Mr. James Rowley, UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Occupied Palestinian Territory, Mr. Patrick Daru, Skills and Employability specialists in ILO Regional Office for Arab States, Mr. Munir Kleibo, ILO Representative in Jerusalem Office, and representatives of ILO and UN from different local and regional areas.
Dr. Kamalain Sha’ath, IUG President, accompanied with IUG vice president for External Affairs and Community and Continuing Education Dean, and other university council and staff, received the delegation and attended the launch of agreement.
The ILO projects targeted three main projects; including; Enhancing the Employability of Engineering Students and Alumni of IUG; Diversifying Skills for Women Architects in Gaza ; Improving , Training and Employing 85 of those disabled people in Irada Project.
All of these projects will be sponsored by ILO and its partners locally and globally.
In the first project, Beneficiary include students and graduate engineers in the Engineering Department at the Islamic University of Gaza, and at the end of the project, the graduate of the Engineering Departments will have competencies to respond to the challenges in the private sector, as part of a “smart” reconstruction process of Gaza.
In the second project, beneficiaries include female graduated from architectural Engineering Department and will have an end to enhance the skills of 15 women architects in furniture design, business and management skills to enable them to access the labour market.
The third project will benefit the disabled people who are affected the Palestinian crisis and injured in the latest wars on Gaza Strip.
