IUG Celebrates World Environment Day 2011

Environmental Authority and the Faculty of Science, at IUG, celebrated the World Environment Day.


Under the international theme: Forests: Nature at your Service, “ and the local theme Green Space belongs to all .. Let us keep it“, the celebration started its activities at the conferences hall of Al-Quds Building in attendance of Dr. Kamalain Sha’ath, IUG president, Dr. Nezam El-Ashqar, Faculty of Science Dean, Dr. Yousef Ebrahim, Environmental Authority Chairman, and Dr. Ayman Abu Hadid, Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, via the phone.


World Environment Day (WED) is a day that stimulates awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and public action


Forests cover one third of the earth’s land mass, performing vital functions and services around the world which make our planet alive with possibilities.


The services forests provide are essentially to every aspect of our quality of life. And the answer to sustainable forest management, moving towards a green economy, lies in our hands.


Dr. Sha’ath confirmed that we have a great responsibility towards environment and the university is keen to preserve environment. We also have to ensure environment conservation as livelihoods need to be preserved and enhanced.”
