IUG Holds a Scientific Day titled “Women in Science”

Women play an important role in a society, especially in science and engineering. The number and the proportion of women have rising in science and engineering every year. In IUG, External Relations Affairs have organized a Scientific Day entitled: “Women in Science: Experiences, Challenges, and Opportunities from Glasgow to Gaza”.  



The scientific day was held via “video conference” in the hall of smart room at the university. Dr. Hala Jarallah Al-khazndar – Coordinator of External Relations at Vice IUG President Office for IT and External Relations, while  Dr. Rif’a Jarallah Al-khazndar – Associate Professor in the department of Physics has represented AL-Aqsa University. From Glasgow University, Dr. Rebecca Ki – representative of refugees and immigration network at the university, has participated in the meeting of the University. Academics from IUG, Al-Azhar, and Al-Aqsa universities attended the meeting.  



Through the scientific day a variety of topics has discussed such as: biology, nursing, power, control, communications, physics, and medicine.


 


For many decades, women occupied over half the places in science-related higher education courses (science, medicine, maths, computer science and engineering), so the scientific day for women is very important in every place.



Through the meeting, they recommended to support women, in terms of their participation in scientific conferences, chaired for conferences and scientific committees, and providing scholarships for academics; Also, facilitating their access to scientific aspects.
