Faculty of Medicine at IUG organized its fourth International Conference “Surgery in Palestine… Updates and Prospects” during the 13th and 14th of October, 2011.
Dr. Basim Naim, Palestinian Health Minister, MP Jamal N. Al-Khodari- Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Kamalain Sha’ath-IUG President, Dr. Mufeed Al Mokhalalaty-Medicine Faculty Dean, Dr. Jihad Hamad–Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, Dr. Mirwan Abu Si’da-the chairman of the Scientific Committee, Dr.Sobhi Skaik- vice chairman of Association of Palestinian Surgeons, a large number of officials of the Ministry of Health, doctors , researchers, and representatives of the participating medical institutions attended the first session of the conference and also the Opening of the Medical Exhibition .
Dr. Naim expressed his proud to participate in the fourth conference of the Faculty of Medicine congratulating the faculty on the qualitative activities, despite its recent establishment.
Dr. Naim confirmed that the faculty succeeded of choosing the conference subject due to the circumstances of the Palestinian society; which is in a big need of surgery. Dr. Naim talked about some of the activities of the Ministry of Health and of them are sending (30) doctors abroad , as well as the presence of more than (30) doctors currently in Egypt; declaring that Egypt is currently being prepared to establish an Egyptians hospital like the Jordanian hospital in Gaza.
MP Al khodary said “We still have a lot of work in the medical field to raise the level and communicate with medical schools abroad, and there are modern means of communication and still have a lot that we will submit to the Faculty of Medicine.
From his turn, Dr. Sha’ath appreciated the achievements of the Faculty of Medicine referring to the importance of the connection between the Ministry of Health and medical college.
Dr. Mokhalalaty referred that this annual conference taking titles due to the needs of society adding that the next year conference will hold the subject of “Health Research in Palestine”.
Dr. Mokhalalaty declared that the faculty sent (35) doctors to train in the Kingdom of Jordan, along with the relations that made with universities in South Africa.
Dr. skaik said that the Conference of the Faculty of Medicine show a good planning to the faculty also he appreciated the value of scientific health research.
