His Excellency the Turkish Ambassador Shakir Ozkan Torunlar- the Turkish Ambassador for the Palestinian National Authority- visited the IUG on Monday 21st of November 2011. His Excellency Deputy Jamal Naji Al Khodari- Chairman of the University Board Trustees- received the Turkish Ambassador with Dr. Kamalain Kamel Sha’ath- IUG President-, Dr. Asa’d Asa’d- Vice President for External Affairs-. The Ambassador is accompanied by Rami Sab Labn- Project coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Development “TEKA” in Palestine.
His Excellency Ambassador confirmed on the importance of services offered by the university in scientific and research fields, which has a great role in overall development process that serve the Palestinian community. Also, he welcomed the cooperation between the Islamic University and other Turkish and higher education institutions. He Appreciated the University’s interest in developing itself.
In addition, His Excellency Deputy Dr. Al Khodari appreciated the great support offered by Turkey to help Palestinians and he also thanked His Excellency Mr. Tayyip Erdogan- the Prime Minister of Turkey-for his support to Palestinians, also he thanked all Turkish institutions and the Turkish development and cooperation institution “TEKA” for its infinite support to IUG.
Dr. Sha’ath briefed about the academic development of the university pointing at the academic services offered by the university talking about university projects in the future: the city of engineering and technological sciences and the University hospital.
His Excellency Ambassador Torunlar opened a gem in the female students department , visited the scientific laboratories in the university and visited the Turkish Palestinian Friendship Hospital which is donated by Turkish government.
