The 1st International
Conference on Applied Linguistics and Literature
 has been held in the Islamic University of Gaza, at the conferences
hall of IUG, by the English Department in the Faculty of Arts on Saturday, October
20, 2012.

Hundreds of Local and international researchers from countries around
the globe attended the first session of the conference, headed by Professor
Noam Chomsky- American Philosopher and thinker accompanied with 10 researchers
from the US, Canada and other international countries , who will be
participants in the conference activities.

   The conference provides a meeting place for
researchers and practitioners in the areas of applied linguistics and
literature to present and share their research findings in a stimulating and
interactive environment.
 


The conference aims to promote collaborative and
networking opportunities between scholars and practitioners and to advance new
perspectives and reflect on current research and practice in a variety of areas
in applied linguistics and literature.


Students from different universities attended
the conference as a way to show support to the delegation message of breaking
the Israeli siege imposed on the coastal enclave
 


The organizers say the conference is a unique
opportunity since it is the first of its kind in Gaza Strip and Prof. Chomsky
is inaugurating the conference.
