Dr. Ashraf El Jedi – Dean of Nursing Faculty at IUG accompanied with Dr. Yousef Al Jeesh- Head of Academic Council of Nursing Community Mental Health Program Chairman, at IUG, visited the University of Hertfordshire-London to discuss prospects for research and academic cooperation with the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The delegation met both: Dr. Alan Walton- Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences, Dr. Jackie Knight – Director of Mental Health Development, and Prof. Brian Littelchild-Associate Head of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work School.
During the meeting, means of research and academic collaboration have been discussed to support the Master of Nursing of Community Mental Health in the Faculty of Nursing at the Islamic University; which is funded by the World Health Organization (WHO). Hertfordshire University expressed its willingness to cooperate actively in this area.
Dr. El Jedi and Dr. Al Jeesh also met Dr. David Winter- Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire; discussing the possibility of participating in delivering lectures to postgraduate students in the Gaza Strip.
In a related context, the delegation discussed ways of clinical and field cooperation with officials in the British College of Nursing, Nursing Council, and British Midwifery in London in order to improve the services of mental health nursing.
