Students from the IT faculty, at IUG, have been awarded Zuhair Hijawi Prize- Vice Chairman of the Arab American University – Jenin in 2011, after their project entitled “Using Nerves networks in estimating human age based on facial expressions”.
Aya M. El-Wan, Nebal K. Tbail, Salha A. Al-Assar, and Zianab H. Abu Sultan-supervised by Prof. Nabil M. Huwihi- IT Faculty Dean, prepared the winning project that can estimate human age through his image concentrating on face gestures. Students used the human nervous system to learn the computer to recognize ages.
It is worthy to mention that Hisham Hijawi Prize includes three main themes: Communication and IT Engineering; Energy and Biotechnology; Environmental and Water Engineering.
