IUG: Two Student Meetings with Leeds and LSE Universities

The Islamic university of Gaza has held a video conference meeting with Leeds university. The meeting took place at Lehedan meetings hall, and was attended by Mr. Husam Ayesh, vice director of public relations, a group of IUG students, and another group of Leeds students.

The two parties has discussed different issues: effects of the siege on the students and their professors, offering on-line lectures to the IUG students, easing access to Leeds library, publishing IUG students creative writings on Leeds students newspaper, having regular meetings between the two universities, unifying the UK Palestinian societies’ efforts towards Palestine right of education, and raising Leeds students awareness of the Palestinian case.

Another video conference meeting, in the same context, was held at the public relation office between a group of IUG students and LSE students.

LSE students expressed their support and high solidarity with the Palestinian students and their right of education. During the meeting, the two parties discussed the following topics: the possibility of the distance learning at LSE, publishing a weekly piece of writing by IUG students on LSE blog, supporting IUG students with a series of MA and PHD papers as resources, presenting the boycott campaigns at LSE, raising the LSE students awareness of the Palestinian case, establishing a facebook group under the title “LSE-IUG”, and delivering a series of Arabic on-line lectures.

It is worth mentioning that the first on-line lecture will be delivered on the 5th of April, 2011.
