Islamic University of Gaza has achieved a big jump in ranking among top universities in Arab World by having 14th on the Arab world and was 32th in the previous rank in July 2010 according to the latest ranking of universities posted on www.webometrics.info.
IUG achieved the 1,682th position on the world universities among 20,000 universities in the world.
The ranking list is published twice a year and covers more than 20,000 higher education institutions worldwide. The “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientيficas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain.
CSIC is among the first basic research organizations in Europe. The CSIC consisted in 2006 of 126 centers and institutes distributed throughout Spain.
IUG was established in 1978 starting with three faculties and has ten faculties nowadays in addition to six centers and 74 labs serving students and the community as well.
