Faculty of Sharia’, at IUG, Holds a Workshop with Iowa University

Faculty of Sharia’, at IUG, has, recently, held a workshop in cooperation with the American university (IOWA) through the video conference on the nature of the legislative process in the emerging countries, taking the Palestinian National Authority as a model.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Maher Al-Holi, Faculty of Shari’a and Law Dean, Dr. Maher Soussi, Vice-Dean, Prof. Kandin Andrian wing, expert of constitutional law at the University of Iowa, and members of the faculty.

Prof. Wing has talked about the Palestinian legislative priorities during the first and the second Palestinian legislative sessions, the obstacles facing the Palestinian legislative project, and the possible ways of overcome such obstacles.

The participants, also, discussed with Prof. Wing the issue of signing international treaties by the Palestinian authority as they get to know the factors which did protect the constitutions.

Dr. Al-Holi has discussed with Prof. Wing: possibilities of cooperation between the two universities; planning to hold a group of special lectures for the students of Shari’a and law through the video conference; some legal programs in graduate studies that can be beneficial for both students.

It is worthy to mention that Prof. Wing has talked about the Iowa library among the American universities which includes more than million books.

Prof. Wing added that the number of the students of faculty of lowa is 600students out of the students’ entire number (30,000), while there are fifty staff members.
