IUG HONORS STUDENTS OF INJURIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS

Deanship of Students Affairs, at IUG, has honored, recently, the university students of special needs and injuries on the occasion of the “DISABLED PEOPLE INTERNATIONAL DAY”. The ceremony was sponsored by The Turkish Solidarity and Relief Association and The Turkish Association Of Human Rights And Humanitarian Aid.

The ceremony was held at the central conference hall in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Al-Kord, Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Kamalain K. Sha’ath, IUG President, Dr. Kamal Ghoniem, Dean of Students Affairs, representatives of concerned associations of the people of special needs, university staff, and the honored and other students from the university.

Mr. Al-Kord expressed his high admiration of the IUG work to participate in the national and social occasions: honoring the students of special needs and providing them with the needed equipments and other requirements through establishing a special center for such students.

Mr. Al-Kord confirmed that the participation of the ministry comes to prove its loyalty and high appreciation to this special group of people adding that the ultimate goal behind this ceremony is to highlight the right of the Palestinian student of special need in life ; to show such students insistence on completing their studies and achieving their goals.

In his turn, Dr. Shaa’t stated that celebrating the day of the people of special needs salutes many noble values in the soul and reminds all of their responsibilities towards these people.

Dr. Sha’ath thanked Students Affairs for their great efforts in reviving the social occasions. Dr. Shaa’t , also, talked about the high interest of the IUG in the issue of the students with injuries and special needs through establishing The Assistive Technology Centre, distributing different scholarships for the physically and visually impaired students, and designing buildings that goes in a line with the students’ needs.

Dr. Ghoniem talked about the great signs of creativity, competition, and superiority in the eyes of the students of special needs, who proved their ability to be teachers, lecturers, or artists. Dr. Ghoniem added “we all have needs and each of us has an area in which s/he can donate and create.”

The ceremony included some Islamic songs by Al-Nour and Al- Amal school, artistic participation by The Association Of The Right Of Life, and some short poetic verses by Dr. Mohammed Al-Boa’. Beyond the end of the ceremony, the gifts and the honoring presents were distributed.
