Approximately 3,500 IUG students, who completed their academic work this second semester, received their degrees during IUG’s commencements at the central conferences hall at the university campus.
“Students closed one chapter in their lives and will open another after graduating…” Our lives are like books that we write and edit as we live. High school graduation, we closed one chapter, and now students will go to have their chance to work,” Dr. Kamalain Sha’ath, IUG President, said.
Approximately 2900 students received undergraduate degrees and 258, in addition to higher diploma graduates, received graduate degrees in IUG this second semester at the year 2010-2011.
“It’s a celebration of achievement, sacrifice and steadfastness. This commencement came in a new taste of freedom and patience against the imposed siege. It’s the freedom of the people who came to support us and the patience of the Palestinian people.” MP Jamal N. Al-Khodari, IUG Board of Trustees Chairman, said.
“Every year it gets better and i congratulate the high standards of the accomplishment of students…” “I congratulate the academic staff here in the college who are motivating and inspiring the students in very difficult circumstances to reach for excellence” Mr. John Ging, UNRWA Head at the Gaza Strip, said.
The first ceremony, which started at 6 p.m., on Saturday, July 25, was for top degrees students while the second ceremony was for the Faculty of Commerce.
The third ceremony was for Sharia & Law Faculty, which held on Monday and 260 undergraduate and graduate students received their degrees during the ceremony.
The fourth ceremony was for Arts Faculty students while the fifth day was for the faculties of Nursing, IT and Science.
The sixth ceremony was for the Faculty of Usool E-Din while the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth ceremonies for the Faculty of Education, which include approximately 1168 undergraduates and 83 graduates and that represented 35% of the of the whole number of graduated students.
Finally, the eleventh ceremony was for the Faculty of Engineering, which included 400 graduated students beside 100 staff members and hundreds of guests, thousands of families and parents of students.
