Under the auspices of Prime Minister Ismail Haniya, with graduates’ family members and friends, university officials, other academic leaders, politicians and community leaders in attendance, Islamic University of Gaza celebrated the graduation of 29th group of students. IUG will hold the ceremonies for its 29 class of undergraduate and postgraduate students from July 25, 2010 till August 5, 2010.
Mr. Hania declared that the government will provide work opportunities for students with honor degrees as a help for Palestinian students who suffered from the imposed siege on Gaza as well as unemployment.
Mr. Hania expressed his commitment in supporting universities as they resemble the source of good in societies. He congratulated the graduates and their families on this occasion and added the IUG reflects a story in Palestinian society.
“At our goal is to inspire and encourage our students to their greatest potential and so it is with great pride that we celebrate this important accomplishment in their lives, graduation day.” MP. Jamal Al-Khodari, chairman of Board of Trustees, said.
“It is with great honour that I confer degrees upon this 29th class,” said Dr. Kamalain Shaath “These students will forever hold a special place in IUG history as they complete their studies under the imposed siege on the whole area of the Gaza Strip.
MP. Al-Khodari described this graduated class of the “Al-Quds and Freedom” as a dignity of the city of Jerusalem, which will remain a historical focused place, and freedom, as a requirement of the Palestinian people, referring to the remarkable role played by Sheikh Raed Salah to the city of Jerusalem to keep the city a Palestinian Arab identity,
MP Al-Khodari asked Mr. Haniyeh to support the decision of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations to form an investigation committee concerning the attack on the Flotilla ship, confirming that the Occupation Forces should not attack the solidarity ships to the Gaza Strip, to break the imposed siege.
MP Al-Khodari expressed his high gratitude to the institutions that supported IUG along its 32 years journey of achievements in serving society.
Dr. Shaath, confirmed that the university is very proud to give his Excellency Mr. Ismael Haniyeh, an honorary doctorate degree last year, as an impression of respect toward such a superb person.
Dr. Sha’ath stressed the university pride to grant His Excellency Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan – Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey – an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of what he is doing to the Palestinian people and his brave positions and attitudes towards the Palestinian issue referring to Turkish people efforts to help the Palestinian people especially their sacrifice for Palestine.
Dr. Sha’ath added that the university offers 100 programs of study at the undergraduate, Higher Diploma and Professional Diploma in addition to postgraduate, referring to Engineering Faculty award of Islamic Development Bank this yea in addition to other scientific research awards.
