Mrs. Debra Goff from the Medical Center at Washington University Delivers a Lecture on Bone Marrow Transplantation

The Faculty of Nursing at IUG organized a scientific lecture delivered by Mrs. Debra Goff, a nurse in the field of care of cancer patients in the medical center at Washington University. The lecture was about nursing care of cancer patients for bone marrow transplantation.

Dr. Ashraf AL- Jedi, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, staff members from the Faculty of Nursing and a number of students from the faculty attended the lecture.

Mrs. Goff stated that treating cancer patients can be done by transplanting stem cells from the bone marrow adding that the cells can be taken from three sources which are: the marrow, blood in the external surfaces or the blood found in the umbilical cord of the baby at birth.

Dr. AL- Jedi assured that this lecture discussed a significant topic that give students the required skills adding that Gaza Strip is in need for experts in the field of the transplantation of marrow for cancer patients. He declared that the faculty is concerned with its students and giving them the required information and skills to be able to apply what they learn and get appropriate jobs after graduation.
