The delegation appreciated IUG and its efforts to serve the higher education and the local community. The delegation also praised IUG academic level, the thing that made it highly appreciated by higher education Arab community. They said that IUG is considered a good example of the modern academic Islamic university that takes care of Islamic values and civilized cultural education.
Dr. Slaem Al-Kaabi, head of the delegation, member of Omani Consultation Council, Mr. Sayed Nour Al-Din Bashkouj, Secretary General of the Arab union, coordinator of the delegation, and Parliamentarians from Egypt, Bahrain, Sudan, Iraq, Syria, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco and Algeria were among the visiting delegation.
MP Jamal N. AL-Khodari, Chairman of Board of Trustees, members of Board of Trustees, Dr. Kamalain K. Sha’ath, IUG President, members from IUG council and members from the Palestinian Legislative Council received the delegation.
MP Al-Khodari welcomed the delegation and talked about the damage of IUG 74 engineering and scientific labs in addition to other buildings around two central buildings as a result of the war on Gaza Strip. He talked about the efforts done by IUG to resume classes and studying and end the first and second semesters efficiently.
MP Al-Khodari briefed the delegation of the bad effects of the war and siege imposed on Gaza Strip including: stopping the university development projects such as the medical city and technological engineering city, unemployment and poverty which affected the students ability to pay the fees as more than 50% of the university students are unable to pay them.
MP Al-Khodari added that it is necessary to help students to continue their academic march. MP Al-Khodari appreciated the efforts of Arab countries that do their best to help the Palestinian education sector.
Dr. Sha’ath briefed the delegation on IUG academic march saying that it includes ten faculties and offers 50 academic programs in BA degree and 40 ones in the master degree.
Dr. Sha’ath talked about the services offered by IUG to serve the higher education, the Palestinian community and scientific research.
Dr. Sha’ath added that IUG is concerned to keep education updated in the Palestinian community to help the people of Gaza Strip.
Dr. Sha’ath thanked the delegation for this visit saying that it enhances ties of cooperation between the Arabs.
