Dr. Ahmed Bahar, First Deputy at the Legislative Council, Prof. Mohammed Shabat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Kamal Ghonem, Students affairs Dean, Dr. Nasser Al- Saadi, Chief of Turkish Cooperation Association, Mr. Mohammed Kaya, Director of Turkish Relief Association, Dr. Raed Salha, Director of Public Relations Office, members from the Legislative Council, number of deans and staff members from IUG, representatives of associations, establishments, schools and students from the university attended the inauguration of the celebration.
Associations such as: Our Deaf Children Association, Palestinian Red Crescent Association, General Union of Disabled in Gaza, General Union of Disabled in Palestine, Orthopedic Center in the municipality of Gaza, Al- Mostakbal Association for adult deaf, Al- Nour and Al- Amal Schools, Medical Aid for Disabled Care, Al- Amal Association for Disabled and Khan Younes Association for Rehabilitation and Training participated in the celebration.
Prof. Shabat Appreciated the role of students affairs deanship in organizing activities that represent and suit the Palestinian society. In addition, he showed his pride in those people of special needs and their determination and challenging the difficulties. He called the competent authorities to care about those people and keeping communicating with caring associations and institutions in order to offer services to disabled people. He shaded light on the services that are offered to them by the center of assistive technology at IUG.
Dr. Ghonem declared that like ordinary people, disabled people face difficulties and constraints. He added that the Palestinian people are more likely to be exposed to disabilities in vision and movement as a result of the bad condition that they face. He said that IUG established technical assistive center for disabled students and it offer them scholarships. Besides, the university is concerned with shedding light on the ingenuity of those students and celebrating the World Disabled Day is an example of the university caring about them.
