Sir Terence English Lights IUG

“I’m delighted to be here, I wish everyone in the Islamic University very successful studies, very successful research… it’s a fine campus, the buildings that you have, and then you see the sadness of the two buildings that had been destroyed during the recent invasion but it is a Lovely University and I think it’s very proud that Gaza should have such a fine university” Said Sir Terence English, who performed the first successful heart transplant, served as President of the International Society of Heart Transplantation and as President of the British Medical Association, during his visit to the Islamic University of Gaza on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.

Dr. Kamalain K. Sha’ath, IUG President, and Dr. Khamis Elessi, Faculty of Medicine staff member, received Sir English accompanied with Dr. Grahemme Greome, Consultant of Reconstructive Orthopedics, and appreciated their visit to the Islamic University, after participating in the Faculty of Medicine Conference in the last October by video recording.

Dr. Groeme said” it’s a great privilege to be here, as I’m currently involved in educational medical students and graduates; I know it is essential to develop the medical school and I think it’s quite remarkable that you have done in this university. I wish you all success and the doctors you trained here to have better times to travel more widely and to have better relationships with the international contacts”

Sir Englsih had a tour inside the university campus watching the two destroyed buildings of the university after the recent war on Gaza Strip.
