During a solidarity move with IUG after a year of attacking its laboratories, his Excellency, Mr. Ismael Haniya, Palestinian Prime Minister, confirmed the government’s commitment to rebuild the Islamic University of Gaza after being attacked from the Israeli planes in December 28,2008, in the latest war.
Mr. Haniya stated that IUG has an effective role in progressing and developing the community as well as promoting the right of education to all of the Palestinian community.
Mr. Haniya added that IUG overcomes many difficulties during its 30 years of establishment and has an excellent achievements and buildings by virtue of its faithful staff and supporting people from all over the world.
Dr. Muhammed A. Asqoul, Minister of Education and Higher Education Ministry, MP. Jamal N. Al-Khodari, Board of Trustees Chairman, members of board of trustees, Dr. Kamalian K. Sha’ath, IUG President, members of IUG council, members of employees union, university staff and students, attended the solidarity move headed by the Palestinian Prime Minister.
MP. Al-Khodari confirmed that the university’s will to rebuild what was destroyed was considered from the first moments of destruction adding that the university is keen to continue its way of education and progress.
MP. Al-Khodari condemned attacking the educational institutions that resulted the destruction of 74 IUG labs estimated with 15$ million.
MP. Al-Khodari expressed his proud of a university got the number one university locally and 14th on the Arab World in 2009 rank and got scientific research awards after the attack.
Dr. Kamalain K. Sha’ath talked about the positive side that was taken from the university against the difficulties like resuming its activities directly after the war.
Dr. Sha’ath talked about some useful researches to some scholars who have been working in a project for five years and turned into a heap of rubbish to destroy all of students dreams and scientific research.
Mr. Haniya visited the exhibition that documented the attack of the university after a year showing some simple devices and photos.
