Faculty of Medicine, at IUG, organized a workshop to examine the training needs of the Palestinian medical doctors within a program to study the capacity-building of the Ministry of Health medical staff, funded by the Islamic Relief Worldwide.
Participants from the workshop called for more endeavors to focus on teaching the basic medical sciences, especially as it will become a prerequisite for success in the Palestinian medical board exam at the beginning of the coming year.
The participants will be focusing on doctors who are enrolled in the training program for the first year to be allocated next year for the second year of Physicians.
The participants urged to pay attention to use the educational potentials and the existing laboratories in the Faculty of Medicine, and work on producing a formative evaluation of the doctors in the training program in every year of study.
The participants recommended to teach the methods of scientific research; such research is part of the requirements for obtaining a certificate of the Palestinian Medical Council, as well as focusing on the practice of doctors and train them on the clinical skills in a systematic and phased approach during the years of training.
The participants discussed the training needs of doctors who are registered with the high degree of specialization in the Palestinian Medical Council in the seven recognized disciplines for training: general surgery, inward Assembly, children, and obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine, radiology, anesthesia and intensive care.
The workshop, which was held at Al-Salaam restaurant, was attended by Dr. Mufid Almukhallaty – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, some members of the teaching staff at faculty of medicine and Dr. Mohammad Al Kashif – Vice-President of the Palestinian Medical Council, and bodies of three Palestinian Medical Council: the Council, the Higher Committee, specialized scientific committees, and Dr. Mohammed Al Soussi – Head of Mission of Palestine in the Islamic Relief Worldwide.
