It deserves to be successful and your friends abroad hope that this would be so and send you very best wishes” Sir Terence English said in a recorded address, who performed the first successful heart transplant, served as President of the International Society of Heart Transplantation and as President of the British Medical Association, to the Faculty of Medicine at IUG while the faculty held the First International Conference on Cardiovascular Diseases in cooperation with European Gaza Hospital.
The conference was held at the Conferences Hall at the center of IUG and attended by Dr. Basem Na’eem, Ministry of Health Minister, MP. Jamal Naji Al-Khodari, Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Kamalain Sha’ath, IUG President, Dr. Mufeed Al-Mukhalati, Faculty of Medicine Dean and Conference Chief, Dr. Abedullatif Al-Haaj, Director of European Gaza Hospital, Dr. Jihad Hammad, Chief of Preparations Committee, Dr. Muhmmed Habib, Chief of Scientific Committee, local, regional and international individuals and institutions, deans’ colleges and hospitals directors at the Gaza Strip, attended the first session of the conference.
Dr. Al-Mukhalalati confirmed that this is the second conference for the faculty of medicine which was established three years ago and took the responsibility to develop medicine and the medical staff in Palestine and especially the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Al-Mukhalalati stressed that this conference which is held by the faculty and the European hospital shows the ability to work in team and cooperation without any restrictions adding that the Faculty is preparing for the medical continuing learning and this will be funded by the Islamic Relief.
The faculty also prepares to have postgraduates studies in addition to the undergraduates studies that will be achieved soon in the recent few months.
Dr.Haaj assures that this conference highlights the Palestinian people strong will adding that the cooperation between the hospital and the IUG is an important step to grant the hospital a grant to be university hospital.
the conference will discuss over the five sessions topics related to risk factors and diagnosis of diseases of the heart and blood vessels in the Gaza Strip, the relationship of coronary artery disease with other diseases, the relationship of heart disease, blood vessels, heart surgery, heart defects and blood vessels.
