Dr. Kamalain Shaath; IUG President, received a British delegation from “Just one world,” institution. The delegation included some psychological affairs, who work within the project to provide psychosocial support to those who was affected in the last war on Gaza, in collaboration with the Islamic Relief Worldwide.
The delegation included Mary Lucas Programme Manager-Sri Lanka/India/Middle East-International Division, and Ms. Annabelle Williams; Programme Officer Middle East.
Dr. Rifaat Rustom, Vice IUG President for External Relations and Information Technology, Dr. Elayyan AL Houly – Assistant of Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Raed Salha – Director of Public Relations Office attended the meeting.
Dr. Shaath briefed the delegation about the academic services provided by IUG for more than 20,000 students, distributed into ten colleges and referred for the postgraduate programs in the university which exceed more than forty programs.
Dr. Shaath addressed the sections which deals with academic psychology at IUG, such as: the Psychological Consultation and Educational Guidance, and the Department of Social Work, School of Nursing and referred to the cooperation and the twinning agreements between the university and institutions of higher education of foreign universities, noting that the university professors got the highest Degrees from a number of prestigious worldwide universities.
In turn, Dr. Rostum talked about the cooperation with the local institutions and the international NGOs which help to take care of mental health concerns.
Dr. Rostum referred to the existing joint cooperation projects between with IUG, which serve the necessity of Palestinian community.
Dr. Rustum welcomed the prospects for opening a joint cooperation between the foundation and the Islamic university.
On the same time, throughout their visit, the delegation has met with IUG stuff members and presented the work experience with the Islamic relief worldwide, especially providing the sociological support for the affected people after Gaza War. The delegation showed an interest to start a good relation with the Palestinian foundations which cooperate with Islamic Relief Worldwide to provide the sociological support for the children throughout distinguished programs.
He pointed to the relationship which connects the delegation with the University of Northampton. The delegation expressed their interests on the researches conducted after the recent war in the Gaza Strip.
The faculty stuff briefed the delegation with the last researches which were conducted in cooptation with the local institutions and the international NGOs beside his relation with the Palestinian community and the activities role to train the teachers in the Palestinian schools; in addition to recognize the work of the psychological support unit in the Islamic university of Gaza which was ravaged in the last Israeli war on the Strip.
