On Thursday 30 July 2009, Islamic University of Gaza celebrated the graduation of three classes, of its 28th graduation ceremonies, from the Faculties of science, nursing, and Information Technology.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Azeez Dwaik Palestinian legislative Council Head (PLC) through Telephone facility, MP. Jamal Alkhodari, Board of Trustees Chairman, Broad of Trustees members, Dr Kamalain Shaath, IUG President, university council members, Dr. Naser Farahat, Science Faculty Dean, Dr. Ala’ Eldeen Alhalees, IT Faculty Dean, Dr. Yousif Algeish, Nursing Faculty Vice Dean, university officials, other academic leaders, businessmen and community leaders.
Dr. Dweik congratulated the graduates of the 28 graduation class and urged them to participate effectively in their country. He also thanked IUG staff for their contributions and continuous effort in building and rehabilitation of professionally well-informed graduates who meet the different needs of community. Dr. Dweik confirmed the notion of national unity as it is the way to achieve the Palestinian dream in independency.
MP. Jamal Al-Khodari, Board of Trustees chairman, talked about the importance of scientific labs and technical devices in strengthening the students’ theoretical studies. He also stated the importance of practical training in enriching graduates with required experience and skills.
MP Al-Khodari condemned the unjustified Israeli targeting to the Islamic University Scientific and Engineering labs. He added that (51) of (74) labs _ serving science, medicine, nursing, engineering, and education faculty students_ were completely destroyed during the war. MP Al-Khodari ended his speech by thanking the university staff for their continuous effort to deal with such conditions.
Dr. Kamalain Shaath, IUG President, expressed his deep appreciation to the proficiency of IUG Scientific faculties that enrich the position of the university locally and internationally. He also confirmed the importance of IUG students’ participation in international competitions to develop their abilities, and to provide them with skills that help to communicate effectively in society. Dr. Shaath congratulated the IT faculty for their success after the faculty participation in Imagine Cup 2009 World finals, and for their winning in Zuhair Hejawi Prize in Scientific research.
