Under the auspices of Prime Minister Ismael Hania, IUG celebrated the first day of graduation ceremonies for its 28th class of undergraduates and postgraduates.
The ceremony was attended by Ismael Hania, Palestinian Prime Minister, Jamal Alkhodari, Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr Kamalain Shaath, IUG President, university officials, other academic leaders, politicians and community leaders.
At the opening moments of the celebration, MP. Al-Khodari declared that Islamic university of Gaza awarded Mr. Isma’el Hania honorary doctorate degree for his outstanding contributions to the country as IUG alumni.
Mr. Hania offered one million dollar for Islamic University of Gaza from the Palestinian government as a support for a higher educational institution in addition to awarding scholarships for students to complete their academic life.
Mr. Hania declared that the government will provide work opportunities for students with honor degrees as a help for Palestinian students who suffered from the imposed siege on Gaza as well as unemployment.
Mr. Hania expressed his commitment in supporting universities as they resemble the source of good in societies. He congratulated the graduates and their families on the occasion and added the IUG reflects a story in Palestinian society.
“Our goal is to encourage our students to their greatest potential and so it is with great pride that we celebrate this important accomplishment in their lives, graduation day.” Mr. Jamal Al-Khodari, chairman of Board of Trustees, said. MP Al-Khodari congratulated graduates and thanked institutions and individuals who support IUG.
“It is with great honor that I confer degrees upon this 28th class,” said Dr. Kamalain Shaath “These students will forever hold a special place in IUG history as they complete their studies under the imposed siege on the whole area of the Gaza Strip. Dr. Kamalain Shaath, IUG President, conferred Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees upon 3000 students.
IUG will hold the ceremonies for its 28th class of undergraduate and postgraduate students from July 25, 2008 till August 08, 2008.
