Two IUG Teams Wins Zuhair Hijawo Prize in Scientific Research

Two IUG teams have won in Zuhair Hijawi Prize, which included distinguished students in scientific research.

The first team was from the Faculty of Information Technology won the prize of IT and telecommunications engineering category while the second was from Faculty of Engineering who got the prize of water and Environmental Engineering.

The project which was entitled “Using Nerve Network to Check Fingerprint” prepared by Manal Shamla, Saly Esawi, and Rana Abu Seedo and supervised by Mr. Basem Al-Ejla ,IT lecturer.

The project aims to verify the human fingerprints by using the several techniques, including: neural networks. The importance of the project is the use in certain areas to verify the identity of the person through a fingerprint. The idea of the project based on introducing fingerprint as an image, followed by identification of fingerprint characteristics, and comparing the distances stored. This project can be used in the places which required identity of persons such as: airports and crossing.
