Dr. Kamalain K. Sha’ath, IUG President, received a delegation from the Organization of the Islamic Conference. The delegation was headed by Dr. Fouad Almaznae _Humanitarian Affairs Department Head at the organization of Islamic Conference, accompanied with Dr. Zakaria Ahmed, relief coordinator at OIC, Dr. Ahmed Hussein, OIC Egypt office Director, and Eng. Mohammed Hasna, general coordinator to the visit.
Dr. Fouad Ali Alemznae confirmed that this visit allowed him to get acquainted with the buildings and projects already financed by the bank and destroyed during the recent war in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Alemznae promised to brief the General Secretary of the Organization with what was seen on the ground, and expressed his interest to make their best efforts to speed in the implementation of projects.
Dr. Alemznae added that the General Secretary of the Organization had an urgent message for many regional and international countries to participate in putting a solution to the agony in Gaza Strip.
Dr. Alemznae urged to break the imposed siege on the Gaza Strip pointing out that this focus is one important reason for establishing such a delegation.
Dr. Kamalain Sha’ath, IUG President, thanked the delegation for their visit and said that education in Palestine is the heart of society adding that higher education in Palestine serves more than (180,000) male and female students, including about (80,000) male and female students in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Sha’ath talked about Islamic University of Gaza students and facilities, which includes more than (20,000) male and female undergraduates and around 1000 postgraduates.
Dr. Sha’ath also briefed the delegation about the services provided by the University to the community as well as research highly concern.
Dr. Sha’ath added that the difficult economic conditions had surely awful effects on the IUG students in addition to their families.
