Islamic University of Gaza signed a Memorandum of Understanding with York St John University to promote international education and understanding, Dr. Kamalain K. Sha’ath, IUG President, signed the memorandum on behalf of Islamic University of Gaza and Professor Dianne Willcocks

According to the agreement, YSJU and IUG agreed to explore future co-operation and collaboration aiming at maximising opportunities for students and staff while being able to demonstrate adherence throughout to recognised standards of quality assurance.
YSJU will offer a scholarship for 2009 to the most academically talented Palestinian student in an appropriate field of study for a postgraduate degree, to consist of full fee waiver and contribution to travel and living expenses.
The two universities will work together on academic twinning of YSJU with IUG at faculty and subject level and will conduct joint academic research in addition to sponsoring visits by teachers and students, such as short-term training, attending courses, conferences, workshops and seminars.
YSJU will promote and will sponsor volunteers willing to teach and train in Gaza, as soon as the situation allows and organize video conference meetings between staff and students to explore ways of support, academic cooperation and awareness raising.
