Dr. Kamalain K. Sha’ath, IUG President, Prof. Rifaat Rustom, Vice President for IT and External Relations, and Dr. Ra’ed Salha, Director of Public Relations Office, received Canadian and student delegation coming as a part of the solidarity campaign with Islamic University of Gaza and the agony of Gaza 22 days invasion.
The delegation included Medea Benjamin, an American politician, and political activist, Norman Finkelstein, political scientist, Monia Mazigh, wife of Canadian Maher Arar, Raone Carey, editor, and other students and peace supporters.
Dr. Sha’ath briefed the delegation about the Islamic University of Gaza history, faculties, programs and community services adding a brief story about the latest destruction of the university two scientific and engineering labs buildings.
It is worthy to mention that this delegation was organized under the umbrella of the peace group CODEPINK; the delegations — the largest group of Americans to travel to Gaza since the siege began — hope to end the horrific 21-month blockade.
