Gerry Adams Visits IUG

In his visit to IUG, Gerry Adams, Member of Irish Parliament, president of Sinn Féin, described the situation in the Gaza Strip as more like an open-air prison. Adams confirmed that everybody should hold his responsibility towards the Gaza Strip bad circumstances.

During his IUG visit, he met representatives from other Palestinian universities such as Al-Quds Open University-Gaza Strip, Al-Aqsa University and Community College of Applied Science and Technology.

Dr. Kamalain Sha’ath, IUG president, confirmed that there should be people to say yes for justice and freedom during the bad circumstances in the Gaza Strip as a result of the imposed siege.

Dr. Sha’ath added that education should take the big part of progress and development in order to solve many problems in the community stating that the higher educational institutions include around 100,000 students in Palestine.

After his meeting with Palestinian universities representatives, at IUG, Adams toured the university and observed the destruction of Islamic University-Gaza buildings and scientific labs.
